The Magic Flute is a fairy tale opera by Mozart about Prince Tamino's quest to rescue the princess Pamina from the high priest Sarastro. Saved from a serpent by three ladies of the Queen of the Night, Tamino falls in love with a portrait of Pamina and agrees to rescue her. Accompanied by the comical birdcatcher Papageno, they journey to Sarastro's temple, only to discover the Queen is the true villain and Sarastro is a wise leader guiding them to enlightenment through trials of wisdom and virtue.
