Carolyn Thayer was born and raised in the wide
open spaces of Montana. As she grew up, she observed the ever
changing light on the contours of the landscape around her. As a
young art student, she was influenced greatly by the
impressionists and the way they utilized light.
Carolyn
received her degree in Art from Montana State University,
Bozeman, in 1972. She is an educator who has taught both public
school and privately for over 25 years. She has won numerous
awards and participated in many juried shows. She is best known
locally for her illustrations for the book “Billings Historic
Homes.” Her designs have been published nationally and her
greeting card designs have been published internationally.
Carolyn currently lives in Billings, Montana, with her
husband and a very spoiled Scottish Terrier.
