Mikado
NOVA CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS’ YOUTH
CONSERVATORY PRESENTS THE MIKADO (sort of)
Billings, MT- The
Mikado (Sort of) will be performed November 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11. Friday and
Saturday performances are at 7:30pm, Sunday matinees at 2pm. Ticket prices are
$16 for adults, $10 for students, seniors and military.
The Mikado (Sort
of) is based on the Gilbert and Sullivan production of the same name. This
re-imagining takes place in a galaxy far, far, away. Nanki-Who, son of the
potentate of Mars-apan, The Mikado, fled his father’s imperial court to escape a
forced marriage with Katisha, a not-so-attractive, elderly robot. Nanki-Who met
and fell in love with Hum-Hum, a lovely young woman with two protective sisters.
Hum-Hum, however, was already betrothed to her overlord, which forced Nanki-Who
to contemplate leaving ZuZu-Who, once again, in despair.
Boasting a
talented cast filled with both new and familiar faces, The Mikado (Sort of)
presents a rollicking and fresh look at the machinations of love and politics.
Co-directed by Janie Sutton, DeLaney Hardy, and Ginger Roll, and stage managed
by Kristin Mayer, this production is a not-to-be-missed treat with costumes and
sets that will amuse and amaze, thanks to the creative and talented Glenda
Brauneis.
